Petter Huusko joined Zanders in 2021, after working for two Swedish companies, Vattenfall and Sandvik. He now works from Zanders’ Nordics office. In this edition, Petter explains his choices and tells us about his experiences at Zanders.

After working several years within the corporate treasury sphere, I was intrigued to expand my knowledge and get more experience in all areas of treasury. When working on the corporate side, I noticed how systems and technology were becoming more prevalent and having an important role for Finance and Treasury.

At the time that I was approached by Zanders, I was a bit sceptical at first. Here was a consultancy firm with big plans of expanding in the Nordics and being the leading treasury consultancy in the region. But when I met the different stakeholders and partners of Zanders my mind was set. I felt confident in joining Zanders and wanted to help to establish their footprint in the Nordics. I think it was an excellent decision.

Zanders has given me the opportunity to continue to learn and evolve within treasury, to broaden my knowledge in systems and how different treasury functions operate. Working here as a manager gives me to possibility to meet many different clients, work on a broad range of projects, and enabled me to focus on areas that I find interesting to expand my expertise.

Compared to the big four, Zanders is a specialized boutique consultancy. It therefore promotes employees to be entrepreneurial – you can shape your career in the direction that you want. Together with managers and partners you can decide on client projects, trainings, and courses to develop yourself. This way, I had the opportunity to meet potential clients and work on my soft skills as well as enhance my knowledge of treasury and technology.

Although the Nordics office is small and growing, partners and colleagues within the Zanders organization are never far away. I truly feel the commitment from Zanders to grow the Nordic practice and to deliver the best support possible to clients. Zanders is located all over the world; my colleagues have different backgrounds and walks of life. It is hard to explain, but Zanders feels like a small, growing start-up company encouraging entrepreneurial behaviour, but with over 200 co-workers worldwide. The culture is friendly and down to earth where work-life balance is not just a word to be put on the website.
