Report: Webinar on behavioural deposit modelling
On Thursday 14 May, Zanders hosted a webinar on the impact of COVID-19 on behavioural deposit modelling in the banking industry. Around fifty ALM, risk and treasury officers from eighteen distinct banks in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Denmark attended the webinar, of which more than ten board members and (line) managers.
Around 80% of the poll respondents experience the impact of the COVID-19 virus on deposit behaviour, with the impact depending on banks’ customer base. For more than half of the respondents this is a trigger to re-assess their current behavioural models and focus on the evaluation of underlying key assumptions and scenario analysis development. Because failure to apply proper behavioural modelling assumptions could result in misreporting of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), inaccurate hedges and increased liquidity risk, Zanders presented a number of focus points for ALM and Risk managers regarding deposit modelling in crisis times.

A whitepaper on IBOR transition effects for the insurance industry
The start of the IBOR era is near and IBOR transitions are a big challenge for both the regulators and the insurance industry. Survey results revealed that most of the insurance firms already have a formal transition plan in place. However, these often lack details, unified planning, and strategizing investment priorities. Nevertheless, we need to anticipate for the transition before the end of 2021.
Some of the most significant factors influencing the IBOR transition within the insurance sector are diverting regulatory guidance, long-term liabilities, asset valuation and other dynamic risk factors. In a clear white paper we summarize the top issues that need to be addressed.
This article offers you an impression of the white paper topics and explains how to obtain it.
In response to the measurements taken by the (national) governments worldwide, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will closely monitor the situation and decide to cancel or postpone events if needed.
We regularly organize webinars on several topics, such as Cash Flow Forecasting, Expected Credit Loss and Treasury Technology.
