Working at Zanders
One year ago, in September 2018, David Moya joined Zanders as a senior manager in London, focused on corporate clients. In this issue of our magazine David introduces himself.
“I grew up and went to school in a quiet neighborhood in Madrid, close to the city center. There was a big park nearby where I used to play football almost every day. So yes, I’m a big fan of football and especially during any International tournaments, I do my best to watch all matches.
After studying Business Administration and Management in Madrid, I began my professional career in 1999 at the International Treasury department of Iberia airlines, where I spent seven years. It then became clear to me that my profession would be in treasury. At Iberia I got the chance to work on many different areas within treasury, such as cash management, FX, hedge accounting, interest rate and commodity hedging. I didn’t want a routine job, and it was immediately clear to me that treasury offered a wide range of interesting and varied alternatives. After Iberia, I stayed in Madrid but moved to Deloitte, doing financial risk and treasury management advisory for five years. Before moving to Zanders, I worked in London at Reval’s professional services.
I believe that these previous experiences in other companies in different roles have formed a good basis for my current job at Zanders. I especially like the variety of the assignments and the challenge of getting involved in projects for which I haven’t had any previous experience. The learning curve is steep here and that’s exactly what I like in a job!
In my first year working here, I have already noticed that both Zanders and I have the flexibility to adapt to changing environments. The consultants here are eager to learning new things and try to set the bar a bit higher each time. I fit to that profile too. What’s typical for me? I have optimistic character, I always see a glass half full and I’m always interested in new challenges and adventures.”
