Silver Billy

You may have noticed something different on the front page of this magazine. This spring, we have reached a new milestone - a silver one, because we are celebrating our 25th anniversary. At this age, humans are at the peak of their physical abilities and that’s how we feel as an organization too. We are now both young and experienced, owning both best practices and innovative ideas, and eagerly looking forward to exploring the latest challenges in the world of our expertise.

In our 25-year history, we have grown from a greenfield operation in Utrecht into a leading consultancy with over 160 colleagues operating from five international offices. Even with this history of successful growth as a company, we have yet more plans to conquer the treasury and risk consulting market. There are many opportunities to strengthen our position as a leading consultancy. One of these opportunities arose a few months ago under the project name of ‘Billy’. If you are unaware of the concept of Billy - it is the name of the legendary bookcase, designed in 1979 by Gillis Lundgren, IKEA's fourth employee, and was one of the drivers of the success of the company. Because of its practicality and great price/quality ratio, over 50 million Billy’s have been sold.

Zanders is continuously looking to expand internationally, evaluating new countries and regions in which we feel we can contribute value, where there is a sound consulting market and that the business culture is close to our company values. One of those regions is the Nordics, where we aim to support corporations and financial institutions in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland. From a new office space in Stockholm, René Andersen, a seasoned Danish treasury professional who owns a wealth of experience with both corporates as well as financial institutions, will lead our greenfield operation in the Nordics market. We aim for this expansion to become as successful as Lundgren’s Billy, becoming a household name in the Nordics treasury and risk market, known for its added value, practical approach and great price/quality ratio. In the meantime, the Billy bookcase is still going strong. We hope they’ll have a silver-colored edition this year too!
